SAN DIEGO — A former gunner’s mate who worked in an armory pleaded guilty Thursday to a federal charge of illegally exporting stolen military equipment.

Phillip Andro Jamison, 31, pleaded guilty to one of six federal counts against him when he appeared in U.S. District Court in San Diego.

As part of the plea deal, Jamison agreed to repay more than $170,000 he collected from the stolen items, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office in San Diego.

He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $1 million fine when he is sentenced Aug. 1.

Jamison was a petty officer first class with Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 3 at Naval Base Coronado, Calif., where he worked in the armory.

A federal grand jury indicted him in September 2010 on trafficking and exporting stolen goods. Among the hundreds of items he was accused of stealing between 2008 and 2009 were tactical flashlights, scopes, night-vision devices, holographic weapons sights and a rangefinder, which he sold through eBay and other websites, according to the indictment.

He also is accused of illegally exporting laser aiming lights and weapons sights in sales to customers in Hong Kong.
