Commands are finding out Monday which of their third and second class petty officers will be forced out of the fleet by the enlisted retention board.

The results of the E-4 and E-5 ERB also include the names of those sailors who must switch ratings to stay in uniform.

Over the last three months, the two enlisted retention boards evaluated nearly 15,000 sailors E-4 through E-8. The boards considered those in 31 overmanned ratings with between seven and 15 years of service. Nearly 3,000 sailors are expected to be sent home.

Sailors E-6 and up who were considered by the second ERB won’t learn their fate until after Thanksgiving, officials say.

All sailors separated by either ERB must off the Navy’s rolls by Sept. 1.
