A San Diego-based sailor has died in Dubai, the Defense Department announced Sunday.

Petty Officer First Class Paris S. Pough, 40, of Columbus, Ga., died Friday during a port visit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Pough, a hull technician who was assigned to the carrier Carl Vinson, homeported in San Diego.

According to the ship's Facebook page, Pough died as a result of a noncombat-related incident in the port city. He is described as a "hard-working, trustworthy shipmate."

A woman who answered the phone at the number listed in Pough's name said he has four children from ages 12 to 1. She declined further comment.
