From astronauts to athletes

Thank NASA for the latest physical rehabilitation tool in your local gym. The AlterG Anti-Gravity treadmill employs the same “differential air pressure” technology used for astronaut exercise regimens to provide rehabilitation and stride training for earthbound athletes.

The AlterG allows users to exercise on a treadmill with a fraction of their actual weight. Unweighting occurs through the use of a pressure-controlled chamber, which gently lifts the user based upon weight calibrations.

The units help with lower extremity injury rehabilitation, treating neurological conditions and analyzing stride to prevent or heal form-related running injuries.

Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., recently acquired two AlterG treadmills to optimize troop training and reduce injuries. Go to www.alter-g.com to find a machine near you.
