Service members in 26 high-cost areas across the country qualify for the continental U.S. cost-of-living allowance, or ConUS COLA, in 2016. The allowance compensates service members for nonhousing expenses in areas where these costs exceed the national average by more than 8 percent. To calculate your monthly allowance, multiply the payout rate for your paygrade and years of service by the figure next to your duty station in the list of qualifying locations. Members with command-sponsored dependents residing in the vicinity of the member's duty station receive the "with dependents" rate. The 2016 monthly without-dependents ConUS COLA rates:

2016 Dislocation Allowance
Dislocation allowance is meant to partially reimburse service members for expenses incurred in relocating the household on a permanent change-of-station move. It's paid in addition to all other authorized travel allowances and may be paid in advance. The single rate is paid to members when government quarters are not assigned or the member moves due to a base closure or realignment.
