2012 Basic Allowance for Subsistence
The Basic Allowance for Subsistence is linked to, and changes with, the Agriculture Department's food-cost index. The 2012 BAS rates rise about 7.2 percent over 2011 rates. BAS as of Jan. 1:
Officers: (including commissioned officers, warrant officers and aviation cadets) — $239.96 per month
Enlisted: (almost everyone who has completed basic training) — $348.44 per month
