2013 Basic Allowance for Subsistence
The Basic Allowance for Subsistence is linked to, and changes with, the Agriculture Department’s food-cost index. The 2013 BAS rates rise about 1.1 percent over 2012 rates. BAS as of Jan. 1:
Officers: (including commissioned officers, warrant officers and aviation cadets) — $242.60 per month
Enlisted: (almost everyone who has completed basic training) — $352.27 per month
