Navy Secretary Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jon Greenert announced four new flag officer assignments Tuesday.

Two-star assignment

Rear Adm. Jeffrey Harley, selected for the rank of rear admiral, will be assigned as assistant deputy chief of naval operations for operations, plans, and strategy in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. He is now serving as president of the Board of Inspection and Survey in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

One-star assignments

Rear Adm. Michael Smith will replace Harley as head of INSURV. Smith is currently serving as commander of Carrier Strike Group 3 in Bremerton, Washington.

Rear Adm. Ronald Boxall will replace Smith as the commander of CSG 3. He is now serving as deputy director of Joint Strategic Planning, J5, on the Joint Staff.

Capt. Dawn Cutler, selected for the rank of rear admiral, will be assigned as Navy chief of information in Washington, D.C. She is currently serving as the Navy's deputy chief of information.
