Marine officials have filed a missing persons report with the Honolulu, Hawaii, police department after a corpsman failed to report for duty on Sunday.

Seaman Shaun Palmer, assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii, has been missing for more than 24 hours and was marked as unauthorized absence on July 2, according to a command release.

Marine officials say Palmer was last seen in Waikiki, Hawaii, the morning of July 1.

Large-scale maritime exercises known as Rim of the Pacific, commonly called RIMPAC, are ongoing around Hawaii and Southern California. Palmer was not scheduled to partake in those exercises, according to a command release.

Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the incident.

The Corps is asking that if you have any information on Palmer to please contact the Honolulu police at (808) 529-3111.
