A U.S. submariner who had been missing in Singapore for nearly a week has reported to the U.S. embassy there, Navy officials confirmed Friday.

Machinist’s Mate Fireman Seth Woods went missing on May 6 while on shore leave from the submarine Oklahoma City, according to officials, and showed up at the embassy on Friday.

Woods’s family told Navy Times that a friend had gone into a 7-Eleven on May 6, and when they came out, Woods was gone.

Exactly what happened remains unclear.

Search efforts included his fellow crew members, U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service officials, the U.S. embassy’s regional security office and local police, according to Navy spokesman Lt. Pah Yip.

“We are glad Woods was found safe,” he said.

Woods will now be returned to Guam, where the Oklahoma City is homeported.

“He will be provided a full medical evaluation, and an investigation will be conducted to determine the extent of his alleged misconduct,” Yip said, adding that offenses could included unauthorized absence and missing ship movement.
