Authorities in Guam on Saturday found the body of a sailor who went missing while swimming.

Machinist’s Mate-Nuclear 3rd Class Zahir R. Hakeem had disappeared Friday off Haputo Beach at Naval Base Guam, Lt. Ian McConnaughey, a spokesman for Joint Region Marianas, said Monday.

The Guam Fire Department joined Navy and Coast Guard helicopters to scout the waters and shoreline for the sailor, who was assigned to the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan, .

Firefighters found his body on Saturday afternoon and turned it over to the Navy.

Hakeem enlisted in 2016. Military records show that the Japan-based Reagan was his first assignment after completing recruit training and his initial schooling.

Following exercise Valiant Shield 2018 in the Philippine Sea, the Reagan arrived in Guam for a port visit on Sept. 24, according to the Navy.
