Twelve sailors were injured Friday when a helicopter crashed aboard the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan Friday.

The MH-60 Seahawk crashed on the Reagan’s flight deck shortly after taking off at about 9 a.m. local time as the carrier conducted routine operations in the Philippine Sea, according to a release from the ship’s parent command, U.S. 7th Fleet.

There were four members on the aircraft at the time, but Navy officials did not immediately say whether they were among the injured.

The injuries ranged from “minor abrasions to lacerations and fractures.”

The most seriously injured were medically evacuated to a hospital in the Philippines, according to the command.

Families of the injured have been notified.

The helo belongs to the "Saberhawks” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 77, according to 7th Fleet spokesman Cmdr. Clayton Doss.

The Reagan has since resumed flight operations.
