STONINGTON, Maine — Officials say a lobsterman whose vessel collided with a recreational boat at the Stonington dock has been charged with operating under the influence.

The Bangor Daily News reports that the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department cited 22-year-old Brandon Murphy, of Trenton, after he allegedly failed a blood-alcohol test on Sunday.

A Coast Guard response boat on hand for security during the lobster boat races on Sunday saw Murphy operating his boat, Black Thundah II, at the time of the crash.

No injuries were reported.

Crew members on the Coast Guard craft boarded the lobster boat as part of their investigation, and notified the sheriff’s deputies.

It was unknown if Murphy has an attorney. A phone number for him could not be located on Tuesday.
