U.S. Northern Commands officials said Monday that the combined Russian-Chinese patrol didn't enter U.S. waters.
A recent port stop marked the first time a U.S. nuclear powered submarine has moored in the Faroe Islands, a Navy release said.
The government made the request after the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Oliver Henry and the British navy patrol boat HMS Spey canceled planned port calls.
The efforts were part of China’s flexing its military muscle, U.S. Indo-Pacific commander Adm. John C. Aquilino said.
