For the third time in a week, the destroyer Mason was the target of an unsuccessful cruise missile attack off Yemen's coast.

Officials confirmed to NBC News that Mason was fired at in international waters near Yemen and was not struck. The ship used countermeasures against the cruise missile and it is not clear how close it came to the ship.

After the two previous strikes, the destroyer Nitze launched Tomahawks that destroyed three radar installations controlled by Houthi rebels in Yemen.
