PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The USS Harry S. Truman has a new commanding officer.
The Navy says Capt. Ryan Scholl took the helm from Capt. Bob Roth during a change of command ceremony this month.
The Truman is amid what's called a maintenance availability at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth.
The carrier fleet undergoes periodic maintenance availabilities throughout their service life to extend longevity and expand capabilities for an estimated 50 years. The ship is expected to return to sea and deploy later this year.
Scholl most recently served as assistant chief of staff for force readiness at Naval Air Forces Pacific.
