ID=25759939The attack submarine Louisville returned to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on a sunny Friday, as sailors reunited with friends and family after a six-month Western Pacific deployment.

The crew participated in multinational exercises and conducted missions in the Asia-Pacific region and the Arabian Sea, logging in 40,000 miles traveled, the Louisville crew said in a news release Saturday.

The crew "fulfilled vital national security tasking, flawlessly showcasing its skill in anti-submarine warfare" and intelligence missions, according to the release.

The deployment brought the crew to Yokosuka, as well as the equator for a crossing-the-line ceremony. But one sailor's favorite was Singapore.

"My friends and I had an awesome time exploring Clarke Quay and the famous Little India neighborhood," Fire Controlman 3rd Class Tyler Zak said in the release. "We experienced a very different culture and ate all kinds of exotic foods."

On the cruise, 17 sailors advanced in rank, 10 re-upped and 20 sailors and three officers earned their dolphins, the release said.

"I'm immensely proud and impressed by the milestones achieved by members of the crew throughout the deployment," Cmdr. Bob Figgs, the sub's commanding officer, said in the release.
