After mine snapped, I Googled  and came up with a review on Cabellas' website from "SWFLJIMMY" who went through three of them. Three. Most of us would stop at two, but Jimmy went the extra mile down Two-is-a-Coincidence-Three-is-a-Trend Street for us. With mine busting, that's four. So what's after trend? Conspiracy?

Speaking of coincidence, I actually bought my Boresnake Viper at Cabelas, too. I paid about $20 for this thing out at the Cabellas in Hamburg, PA. That place is amazing, unlike the Boresnake Viper. Avoid it 'till they fix that cord.

UPDATE: I just called Bushmaster customer service. They are Hoppes parent company. I spoke with Scott who was genuinely spurprised to hear of the failure and is sending out a replacement without any hassle. I hope the second one is a keeper.

I took the plastic cover off the rope and found the two cords were heat welded together and then covered with that white thing. I can only guess that there was too much heat applied and the cord became brittle. I'm hoping to talk to Hoppes directly about the failure and see if they have heard of this before.
