“It would be quite straightforward to not be on the consoles or in the control room" during a recent U.S. submarine torpedo kill, said one analyst. "We hit an Iranian drone carrier ship roughly the size of a World War II aircraft carrier," Adm. Brad Cooper, head of U.S. Central Command, said. A single Mk-48 torpedo achieved "immediate effect" on an Iranian frigate, which was operating in the Indian Ocean, the Pentagon confirmed. A high-ranking member in the Iranian Armed Forces said Monday that any vessel traveling through the narrow maritime passage would be destroyed. President Trump also said Iran's naval headquarters has been "largely destroyed" in a different attack. The May 2025 assault took place at a house party in Jamul, San Diego, during which a victim alleges they were pistol whipped and attacked by a group. Both of the U.S. Navy’s hospital ships are currently docked at a shipyard in Alabama.
