Many community pharmacies never received the proposed contract for the 2023 retail network, according to the National Community Pharmacists Association. Many community pharmacies leave the network Monday, and a new requirement for specialty meds for cancer and other complex conditions takes effect Jan. 1. Nearly 15,000 community and independent pharmacies declined to accept new terms, including reimbursement rates, and will leave the Tricare network. One major concern is how military retirees overseas will get their mail-order medications through Tricare Express Scripts. Dec. 13 is the deadline for Tricare and FEDVIP enrollment and changes. Walmart officials, who signed an agreement with Express Scripts Sept. 30 to continue in the network, were surprised by the news they're out. National supply chain issues are causing more drug shortages, according to reports. But the military appears okay for now. After holding the line on cost of meds for 2021, Tricare officials are increasing the cost anywhere from $1 to $8 for 2022.
