A Coast Guard statement emailed to Navy Times early Tuesday announced rescuers in Alaska have suspended the search for the 49-year-old Cordova man who went missing after the Delong Dock explosion.
Coast Guard officials told Navy Times that a 29-foot response boat crew from Jonesport joined an HC-144 Ocean Sentry surveillance aircraft and an MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter flown from Cape Cod in the search.
Alaska State Troopers, Kake residents, Village Public Safety Officers and even a remotely-controlled underwater drone had joined in the hunt while a Coast Guard Air Station Sitka MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter scanned the shoreline and surrounding waters.
