BREMERTON, Wash. — The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz moved across Puget Sound from Everett to Bremerton on Tuesday, a week later than the Navy planned because of a maintenance issue.

Bremerton will be its home port during a 16-month overhaul at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

The Nimitz returned to Everett in December 2013 following a nine-month deployment in which it saw action in the Afghanistan War.
