Navy personnel officials released the results of this the fiscal year 2018 E-8 selection board today in NavAdmin message 131/17. 

The board convened April 24 to consider almost 13,500 eligible chief petty officers for just under 1,700 openings in the senior chief ranks.

The chance to advance to senior chief petty officer — traditionally the toughest rank to make in the Navy — is up for the first time in four years, giving sailors with a 12.5 percent chance at advancement.
