A few weeks ago, proposed changes to the Navy's physical fitness assessment surfaced from command fitness leaders. Among them: tape tests for all, random body composition tests and doing away with "bad day" retests for the physical readiness assessment.

Navy leadership said none of the suggestions would be showing up in a NAVADMIN anytime soon.

The CFLs had a chance to offer their ideas. Now it's your turn. If you were in charge, what would you change to the PFA?

Do you think the height and weight check and the tape test are ways to measure a sailor's fitness? If not, what would you recommend?

Are the different types of cardio workouts roughly equivalent in scoring for the physical readiness test? Among push-ups, curl-ups, run, bike, swim and elliptical, what portions of the PRT would you like to change or drop altogether?

Do you favor upping the number of "bad day" retests or scrapping them altogether?

Should commands be required to carve out time for PT, as the CFLs suggested?

How should the Navy recognize sailors who earn top scores, if anything?

Navy Times wants to hear your ideas to improve the PFA. Send them to staff writer Meghann Myers. Let us know what you think needs changing and why, and your comments could be featured in an upcoming article.
