The dock landing ship Comstock is back on the front lines in the Arabian Gulf after some serious engine trouble mid-deployment.
The ship, part of the Makin Island amphibious ready group, pulled into Manama, Bahrain, in mid-October because of a cracked cylinder in the ship's No. 2 main engine.
The ship wasn't out of the fight for long, said Chris Johnson, spokesman for Naval Sea Systems Command.
"The ship pulled into port on its own power to pick up repair parts, a diesel engine inspector and a diesel engine technician, and then left port," he said in an email. "Repairs were done at sea and took five days."
Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center, Detachment Bahrain, completed the repairs, according to a Navy release.
The Comstock and the other ARG ships arrived in the Middle East in September, relieving the Bataan ARG, which is due back in Norfolk this week. The ship is currently operating in the Arabian Gulf.
