BOURNE, Mass. — Authorities say the shooting victims and suspected gunman in an attack at a Massachusetts condo complex were active-duty Coast Guard personnel. A police officer was also wounded in the confrontation.

Coast Guard spokesman Ross Ruddell says a woman who was shot to death and a woman who was wounded were stationed on Cape Cod. He said the suspect was stationed in Virginia. The suspect was apprehended, according to the Boston Globe.

Ruddell said he could not disclose their names or how they knew each other.

A Bourne police officer responding to the scene at the condominium complex at about 2:15 a.m. was shot in the back, below his bullet-proof vest.

The officer and the wounded woman are in the hospital.

Officers responding to reports of explosions found a burning vehicle blocking the driveway to the complex, as well as suspected explosive devices in the area.

The Coast Guard is assisting in the investigation.
