Thousands of sailors across the Navy have something extra to be thankful for as they celebrate with turkeys not named Drumstick: A new petty officer crow.
Nearly 25,000 active, reserve and full-time support sailors received word today that they were selected to advance into the E-4 through E-6 paygrades.
Overall, petty officer advancements have been trending up slightly in the past couple years and this fall has been no different.

In all, 90,082 sailors passed this fall’s advancement exams, making them eligible to compete for the 25,050 available advancement quotas for those paygrades, which amounts to a 27 percent chance at moving up. That’s up from 26 percent this past spring and well up from last fall’s 24.5 percent advancement opportunity.
Congratulations to all selectees!
