It’s here! The chief of naval personnel released the names of this year’s new crop of E-8s on June 6.

This round of senior chief advancements, which were determined by a selection board that convened on April 23 in Millington, Tennessee, marked the best opportunity to advance in 22 years.

Traditionally, making senior chief has statistically been the toughest enlisted rank in the Navy to attain, hovering only around the 11 percent mark since 1997.

This year, however, is the third straight year of increases in opportunity for those aiming to advance, with 1,676 — or nearly 14 percent — of eligible chiefs making the cut.

In this rarefied air of enlisted advancement, it’s not often that every rating has at least one available quota. That also changed with this year’s crop of quotas, as every eligible sailor had at least a chance to move up.

Last year, 370 eligible chiefs from three ratings were given no shot to advance.

Congratulations to all selectees. Check out is year’s list here.
