Going out on a jog with a few close friends can be fun, but what about with 35,000 close friends, and in Washington, D.C.?

Also fun.

How fun? You can find out by registering for this year’s Army Ten-Miler, which is scheduled to take place on Oct. 7, 2018, just a couple of weeks before the Marine Corps Marathon. The race both starts and ends at the Pentagon, but takes runners across the Potomac River into Washington, D.C., and the National Mall, before heading back again across the river.

It’s a scenic and exciting race with thousands of spectators.

Registration is limited to 35,000 people, but you shouldn’t be worried about getting in. As long as you use your .mil email address when you register on May 9, it shouldn’t be a problem, according to the race’s website. You can also register on May 9 if you’ve finished at least seven Army Ten-Milers.

If you miss the May 9 priority registration, you can take a chance with the general registration on May 23. Spaces will go fast, though.
