A Marine test pilot turned astronaut is slated to lead the next crewed mission to the International Space Station.
The talks will pave the way for action by G-7 leaders when they meet next month in Hiroshima.
Before becoming an astronaut, Walter Cunningham enlisted with the Navy in 1951 and served as a Marine Corps pilot in Korea, according to NASA.
The youngest active-duty sailors on Dec. 7, 1941, would have been about 17, making them 98 today. Many of those still alive are at least 100.
