Chief Fire Controlman (Aegis) Bryce Steven Pedicini is the first sailor to face espionage charges within the Navy justice system in at least five years.
The men are accused of giving sensitive military information to China — including details on wartime exercises, naval operations and technical materials.
Spy cases are rare. More typically, the act applies to the unauthorized gathering, possessing or transmitting of certain sensitive government information.
