The destroyer traversed the U.S. 3rd, 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operations over the course of seven months.
Combat arms personnel in the U.S. Navy will need to complete the new test once a year, executing swims, runs, push-ups, and pull-ups.
"The U.S. Navy will lead the design of these ships," the president said Monday, "along with me because I’m a very aesthetic person."
The first hull is expected to hit the water in 2028 as a more nimble companion to the Navy’s larger warships, Navy Secretary John Phelan said.
