A SEAL assigned to a West Coast-based unit has died from his injuries after a parachute training accident Wednesday, the Navy has confirmed.

The sailor died after a jump in Perris, California, according to a release from Naval Special Warfare Group 1.

The accident occurred just after 9 a.m., a Riverside County fire department official confirmed to the Associated Press.

His identity will be released after next of kin are notified, the Navy release said.

The accident is the second SEAL skydiving training death this year, following a hard landing by Special Operator 1st Class (SEAL) Blake Marston in January at a central Florida training facility.
