The head of Navy recruiting in Houston was relieved of command last month due to a loss of confidence, officials confirmed this week.

Cmdr. Steven Rodriguez, who led Navy Recruiting District Houston, was relieved on Feb. 21, according to Navy Recruiting Command spokeswoman Lt. Cmdr. Jessica McNulty.

McNulty declined to provide details on why Capt. Jason Webb, the head of Navy Recruiting Region West, opted to fire Rodriguez.

She said the Naval Criminal Investigative Service is conducting an investigation.

NRD Houston’s executive officer, Cmdr. Joshua Bailey, has been assigned the acting head of the Houston office until a permanent replacement is selected.
