Lt. Cmdr. Russell Cruz was a Navy supply officer and a submarine warfare qualified officer.
Russell Cruz, 40, of Kailua, Hawaii, died of a gunshot wound to the head, the medical examiner’s office said.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Navy Pacific Submarine Force told news outlets the man was one of its sailors.
