Norfolk sailor accused of sex crime with a minor

A sailor attached to the destroyer Bulkeley at Naval Station Norfolk has been accused of raping and abusing a child in Virginia Beach, according to a local news report. 

Fire Controlman 2nd Class Matthew Robert McMeans was arrested in January, according to the news report.

According to a WUSA9 report on Wednesday, McMeans allegedly sexually abused a girl under the age of 13 in 2015. The sailor, who is 26, is also accused of using Facebook to send explicit photos, discuss prior sexual contact and attempting to entice the minor over to his house to have sex, according to the report.

McMeans is facing charges of rape, forcible sodomy and other charges, according to the report.

He's currently being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond, according to the report.
